Hemi’s Story
Hemi is all about leveling up the state-of-the-art in the blockchain space through an elegant answer to Layer-2 interoperability and scaling — by delivering a supernetwork that integrates Bitcoin and Ethereum. . This brings together Bitcoin's rock-solid security and Ethereum’s programmability with features like the Hemi Virtual Machine (hVM) — a fully indexed Bitcoin node wrapped in an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
The network aims to make blockchain applications more scalable and efficient while ensuring assets stay secure.
By bridging these two blockchain powerhouses, Hemi creates a flexible yet robust foundation for Web3 innovations.

Beluga’s Take
The Hemi Network is one of the most exciting upcoming Bitcoin L2’s, initially gaining attention due to the involvement of cofounder Jeff Garzik’s background as a Bitcoin core developer. The story doesn’t end there, however, as Hemi has developed its own method of unifying Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Integrating a full Bitcoin node into the EVM allows developers and users to access Ethereum’s programmability while retaining the security offered by the Bitcoin network. Given the incredible run of BTC over the last year and the energy around Bitcoin DeFi, the world’s eyes are on the Bitcoin ecosystem and Hemi is well positioned to take advantage of this. The superior interoperability offered by its approach versus competitors offers a good narrative for the token, especially as BTC and ETH are the only two crypto assets with US ETFs currently.
Alongside this, Hemi’s Proof-of-Proof (PoP) security mechanism allows it to inherit Bitcoin’s Proof-of-Work security in a way that is more censorship-resistant than conventional means such as Merged Mining.
